Candler – Ralph Jennings "Jim" Worley, 94, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Rev Sherman and Nina West Worley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Edna Maryland Scott Worley and his second wife, Ruth Worley; two daughters, Wanda Jayne Worley McGaha and Nina Anita Worley; nine brothers and sisters. Affectionately known as "Jim", Ralph Jennings Worley will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved him. Although Jim did not have a formal education, he was extremely intelligent and was a well-known and sought after contractor for his excellent knowledge and craft. He was one of the hardest working men you could ever meet and had a very strong work ethic. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed spending time outside working on projects, fishing, hunting, and caring for his property. His core values of respect, integrity, and honest were admired by all and he instilled those values in his children and family.

He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Surrett and husband, Charles, and Edna Willis and husband, Dean, all of Canton; two sons, Joe Carroll Worley and wife, Brenda, and Jennings Worley and wife, Brenda, all of Canton; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
