" Agnes Elizabeth Moore May 2, 1919 to November 28, 2013 Resident of Concord, CA Our Dearest Agnes Elizabeth Moore departed this Earth Thurs., Nov. 28, 2013 at 94 years of age.
Agnes was born to Martin and Isabelle Kennedy on May 2, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN. Agnes is predeceased by her husband Harold Moore, parents and five siblings: Mary Isabelle, Martin Jr., Eleanor, John and Bernadette. Agnes attended Barat Academy High School in Lake Forest, IL and then obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Duchesne College in Omaha, NE in 1941. Afterward Agnes received special training during World War II to teach Aviation Code to U.S. Army Air Corps cadets in Sioux Falls, SD. There she met her star pupil and love of her life, Harold Ivan Moore. Agnes and Harold were married on Dec. 2, 1944 and married 52 years until his death on May 2, 1997. Agnes lived the majority of her married life in San Lorenzo, CA having moved there in 1950. She is survived by her seven children: daughter Kathleen Lafferty, son John and daughter-in-law Ella Moore, daughter Margaret and son-in-law Ian Brandt, daughter Mary and son-in-law Gene Engles, son James and daughter-in-law Merrilene Moore, son Tim and daughter-in-law Janet Moore and son Richard Moore, and brother-in law Dennis Quinlevan. Agnes is also survived by her nineteen grandchildren: Sean (Mary) Lafferty, Shannon (Greg) Case, Erin Lafferty; John (Laura) Moore, Tom Moore; David (Barbara) Evans, Carrie Evans, Tim (Yolanda) Evans, Daniel (Jody) Evans; Gene Engles, Michael (Jennifer) Engles, Christine Cook; Matthew (Jennifer) Moore, Melissa (Jay) West, Kristen (Matthew) Wiese; Heather (Brandon) Frei, Holly (William) Schick; Michael and Christopher Moore. Agnes is also survived by her 27 great-grandchildren. Agnes was a homemaker and her husband and family were her world. Her other great love was God. Agnes served the Diocese of Oakland as Director of the Birthright Office. She fought and believed in the rights of those most vulnerable in our society. In 1993 Agnes received a service award presented by the Bishop of Oakland for her services to the Catholic Church. Agnes enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She had a gemology collection and was an avid reader. especially of mysteries. She enjoyed traveling and even went to Ireland when she was 83, a lifelong dream. In her 80s she rediscovered a hidden talent in painting. Agnes embodied many wonderful gifts. She was kind, patient and a caring friend. People were drawn to her ability to listen and provide her wisdom. Agnes' love of God and family legacy will continue to grow in each of us touched by her. We are all blessed to have her prayers in Heaven until we reunite with her."
