Mildred Gwendolyn Harmann, 97, entered her Heavenly Home on December 5, 2013. She was born to Norwegian parents, Knut and Emma (Larson) Bendickson on July 5, 1916, in Carnot. She was the youngest of ten children. Mildred was baptized and confirmed at Forest Lutheran Church in Carnot.

Mildred was united in marriage to Howard Louis Harmann on November 2, 1940, at Forest Church by Howard's Pastor Carl Toepel of St. Paul's Lutheran of Algoma. They were blessed with 38 years of marriage before his death on January 27, 1979. Mildred attended elementary school at Carnot School and graduated from Algoma High School in 1934.

Mildred was a devoted mother, farmwife, and grandmother who lived life in a humble, quiet manner. She was dedicated to her church, being an organist for 74 years till she turned 94 years of age, still sang in the church choir, attended WELCA, Circle, started Prayer Chains, participated in Pioneer Day programs, many years taught and played piano for VBS, serged hundreds of school bags and baby blankets for missions, and had daily devotions.

Entertaining residents each month at the Dorchester, Algoma Extended Care, and Pine Crest, Mildred used her musical talents by playing her keyboard even at age 97 with her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter, daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and their families; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; two sons, Ernest and Baby Emil; parents, Knut and Emma Bendickson; nine brothers and sisters: Mrs. Walter (Alvina) Miller, Cony (Sylvia) Bendickson, Leonard, Burnette, Mrs. Ed (Nora) Mickelson, Olive, twins Myrtle and Mabel, and a baby brother.
