R. M. DICKEY DIED AT NORWICH HOME: PROMINENT FARMER PASSED AWAY MONDAY FROM HEART AND KIDNEY TROUBLE--FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY

R. M. Dickey, one of the best known Norwich farmers, passed away at his farm home south of Norwich Monday, after an illness of several weeks from heart and kidney trouble. Mr. Dickey had been a great sufferer, altho he bore up with great fortitude.

The funeral was held from the home Wednesday morning at ten o'clock. Rev. P. W. Erickson, pastor of the Presbyterian church of this city, delivering an eloquent sermon. The Norwich choir sang a number of appropriate selections and the floral tributes were profuse. Many friends paid their last tribute of love and respect for the kindly old gentleman who is no more. The remains were interred at the cemetery at Norwich.

R. M. Dickey was born in Ohio in 1847, and when but a young man, moved to Iowa, where he followed the occupation of farming in Audubon County for years. Six or eight years ago he came to North Dakota, investing in a valuable half section farm south of Norwich, which he improved, making it one of the best farms in that locality. He was a successful business man and very progressive. A few years ago his wife passed away and since that time, Mr. Dickey had lived with his children or traveled extensively.

The Dickey family included seven children, one daughter, Mrs. Wood, dying several years ago. The others are, Mrs. Whitted of Logan; Robert, who occupies the Norwich farm; Mrs. Lowe, Frank Dickey, Hall Dickey of Oklahoma, and John Dickey of Iowa.

The Independent extends sympathy to the members of the family.

The Ward County Independent, Thursday, October 14, 1915, p 1

Note: he was also known as Reason or Reese Moris Dickey. Conflicting birth year; Records indicate that his birth year is 1847. Also, death date as October 12, 1915.
