Gary Ficken, 65, of Galloway Township, passed away peacefully on Friday at his home with his family by his side.

Born in Hammonton, he grew up in Egg Harbor.

He was a proud American patriot and honorably served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his work and inventing/tinkering about in his impressive home workshop, he loved going camping and traveling throughout the country in his creatively customized RV. He was well-known for his work ethic that was second to none and managed his own business, Ficken Heating and Cooling.

He had many, many friends and was a member of the Pine Valley Gunning Club, the Retreads Motorcycle Club, and a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion (Post 430).

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Gertrude Ficken; his brother, William Ficken, and his sister Trudy Krebs.

He was survived by his wife, Barbara Ficken; his children, Christie Houf (Brian); Kim Costales; his stepchildren, Beverly Haas (Alex); Andrew Coyle; his brothers, Randy Ficken (Jean) and Rick Ficken (Pam); his sister, Tana Tracey (Tom); his grandchildren, Rory, Suzan, Garrett, Lauren, Brian, Benicio, and Nina and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was truly one of a kind; an incredible, hard-working and generous man. All have been truly blessed by God to be able to have known him - lived with him - and loved him.

Funeral services at the Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. Interment at Germania Cemetery.
