Mr. Ben K. Peek, Jr.

HITCHCOCK — Mr. Ben K. Peek, Jr. passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born April 10, 1931, in Galveston, Texas, Mr. Peek had been a resident of Hitchcock for seventy-five years, previously of Galveston. He was a member of the 1950 graduating class of Ball High School and had worked as a watchmaker/repairman before serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed as a process operator with American Oil and Sterling Chemical (Monsanto) where he had retired after thirty-five years, was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5400, the Hitchcock Historical Society and Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce and had owned and operated Ben Peek Real Estate.

Preceded in death by his parents Ben, Sr. and Eva Peek; brother Charles S. Peek, Sr.; sister Bette Peek Rogers and her husband John and grandson Jacob Wentzel;

Survivors include his wife Jean Peek; daughters Debbie Wentzel and husband A. G., Becky Peek, Cindy Brooks and husband Greg, and Danielle Peek Summerlin, all of Santa Fe; grandchildren Chris Windham, Matt Wentzel and wife Aarin, of Santa Fe, Stephanie Motl Pedraza and husband Paul of Austin, Kristin Motl Carson and husband Todd of Santa Fe, Amy Brooks Perez and husband Justin of Quantico Marine Base, Virginia, Elizabeth Howington; and Micah Brooks, both of Santa Fe; great-grandchildren Kylie and Addison Wentzel of Santa Fe, Sage and Pax Pedraza of Austin, Kohner, and Claire and Lincoln Carson of Santa Fe.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday August 20, 2010, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a memorial service beginning at 7 p.m.
