Fannie C. Battle
Candler - Fannie Cooke Battle, 72, of 795 Asbury Road, Chandler, died Thursday, May 7, 1998.
A native of Columbia, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Clarkson N. and Vera Dean Cooke. She was a member of Francis Asbury Methodist Church and a retired bookkeeper with the Harold Talbert Realty Company.She was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years, a member of Electra Chapter #228, serving as past Matron and past secretary.
She is survived by her husband, Verlin Maxwell Battle Sr.; two sons, of Chandler, and of Williamston; sister, Shirley Cooke Davidson of Candler; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Francis Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen F. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home, where Mrs. Battle will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the Masonic and Eastern Star Home, 700 S. Holden, Greensboro, N.C. 27407.
