Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, widow of William Smith, died at her home at Smith's Corners, Tuesday, December 10, 1898 aged 84 years. She was one of the pioneer residents of Rockland Twp. Mrs. Smith was born in Armstrong Co., but when married moved to Smith's Corners over 50 years ago. Her husband died four years ago. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. J.H. Askey of Rockland; Mrs. Lizzie Collingwood of Armstrong Co., and sons, all of Rockland: D.S., W.F., C.W., M.B., and S.A. Smith. She was the grandmother of W.E. Askey of Oil City. The funeral was held at Rockland M.E. Church on January 12th.
