He married Carrie Mae Jolly and when they divorced, he married Myrtle Thompson. After Myrtle's death, he remarried Carrie.

He lived in Rockwood for many years, where he was first Master Mechanic, then assistant superintendent for Tennessee Products at the old blast furnace.

He later worked for American Machine and Foundry, in Olney, Ill., where he was given the Man of The Year award in 1976.

He returned to Tennessee in 1985 for a short time, then moved back to Olney, IL where he remained until moving to Maryville, TN., shortly before his death.
