Dorothy Marie Champion, passed away peacefully Saturday at The Health Center of Galloway.

She was born, in Smithville, the daughter of Robert Allen and Anna Mary (nee Lovett) Leeds.

In 1939 Dorothy married the love of her life, Clair Elwood Champion. They were married for 72 years until his death in 2012. Together they founded Bethel Christian School where she served as a teacher for many levels, and eventually as principal for many years. She loved children and her passion was literacy and Christian education. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Port Republic.

Dorothy was mother to four children: Ruth Hirons (Jack), Elaine Nesselroade (Kenneth), Lois Waggoner (Carl) and Paul Champion, Sr. (Melanie); was grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of 16.

Services at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield, New Jersey. There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at the Port Republic Church Cemetery.
