Bonnie Lawing Marlowe, age 72, of Marion, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at The McDowell Hospital. A native of McDowell County, NC, she was born June 19, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lawing and Anna Lee Barlowe Lawing. A wonderful mother, grandmother and sister, Bonnie loved to travel, was an avid reader until she lost her vision. Bonnie took great pleasure in all of nature, especially birds and flowers. She was voted Miss Autumn Care for 2013. Mrs. Marlowe retired from Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where she worked as a registered nurse. She also attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Eugene Marlowe and one brother, Bill Lawing. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnijean Marley and husband Scott of Greenville, SC; two sons, Bryan Marlowe and wife Carolyn of Marion and Bruce Marlowe and wife Rebecca of Marion; one sister, Carolyn Diane Gouge and husband Ronnie of Marion; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two aunts; one uncle and several nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cross Memorial Baptist Church with Revs. Douglas Prevette and Charles Allen officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home where the body will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.   Those wishing to make memorial donations in Mrs. Marlowe's memory are asked to consider, The Bethlehem Baptist Church Carpenters for Christ, 2835 Old Fort Sugar Hill Road, Old Fort, NC 28762
