Alice Josephine Heatwole Suter, 95, of Bridgewater, died on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the Bridgewater Home, where she had been a resident since Sept. 19, 2002.

She was born June 17, 1909, in the Mole Hill area of Dayton, and was a daughter of Abram D. and Lydia E. Heatwole.

Mrs. Suter was a member of Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren and the Koinonia Sunday School class.

She was united in marriage on Oct. 28, 1931, to Marion Heatwole Suter, who preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1986.

Surviving are three children, Stanley H. and Norma Suter of Harrisonburg, Shirley S. Miller of Dayton, and Janet S. and James Stepp of Bridgewater; four grandsons, Steven R. Miller of Dayton, Mark A. and Mary Jean Miller of Radford, Va., Michael S. and Dana C. Suter of Bridgewater, and Scott H. Suter of Bridgewater; five great-grandsons, Bryan S. Suter and Blake M. Suter, both of Bridgewater, Ethan O. Miller and Aaron S. Miller, both of Radford, Va., and Ian H. Suter of Bridgewater; one great-granddaughter, Anna E. Suter of Bridgewater; one sister, Wilda H. Patterson of Bridgewater.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Owen Heatwole, P. Earl Heatwole, Roy A. Heatwole, and George R. Heatwole; four sisters, Anna E. Heatwole, Mary M. Heatwole, Pauline M. Heatwole, and Edith V. Swope; and one son-in-law, Galen R. Miller Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Glenn E. Bollinger officiating. Burial will follow at the Beaver Creek Church Cemetery.
