Son of Judge Walter Bellah and Elizabeth (Thomas) Bellah.
Private in the Civil War, fighting for the Confederate cause.
Married Nancy Frozila Phenix 27/Aug/1868 at Oregon Co., MO.
Father of John Albert, William Walter, Marshall Alpha, Emma Ellen, Jerusha Paulina, Maude Catherine and James Jefferson.
A very religious man, he spent Sunday afternoons reading the Bible to his wife. He attended the Methodist church at Thomasville, MO. He loved to sing and taught music at singing schools.
He was a blacksmith and gunsmith, and loved to go fishing.
Came to Texas in the fall of 1894 for his health, but died from consumption the following spring.
