He was the son of the late Justus and Ann Katherine Wagner Heimel, of this city.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; Men's Bible Class of St. John's; Resolute Council of the Jr. Order American Mechanics; and the First Hose Fire Company.
A life long resident of Hagerstown, Mr. Heimel won many warm friends. Although in failing health for some time, Mr. Heimel had only been critically ill for a few weeks. He made a brave fight against the ravages of disease. He possessed a genial personality and was a man of sterling qualities. As a business man and a citizen he was held in the highest esteem.
Besides his widow, C. Bertha Heimel, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Fogie, and a son, W.Edward, both at home; sisters, Mrs. C.A. Bischoff and Mrs. Lewis Schmidt, this city.
Funeral services were held at his late home; interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

KATHERINE A. HEIMEL, widow of the late Justus Heimel, died at her late home, 13 S. Potomac Street yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, of general debility, aged 82 years, 2 months and 14 days. Mrs. Heimel was born in Michelstadt, Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany July 29, 1838. She came to this country in 1856 and was married in this city on August 30, 1863, 57 years ago. The deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. Christina Ischoff, Mrs. Lewis Schmidt and William H. Heimel, all of this city; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the house. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
