Vernon served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a Machinist Tool & Die maker. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Vernon was a graduate of Le Tourneau University receiving a bachelor's degree as a tool maker. He was employed in various factories in Burlington, Iowa and retired from General Electric in 1987. During retirement years, he and his family traveled to national parks, museums and took tours in Mexico, Canada and went on many cruises.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Arvella Muntz and Maxine Kerr, one brother, Melvin Muntz and an infant son, Dennis.
