LOUIS C. CHARUHAS
Louis Charles Charuhas, 59, a native of Cumberland, died Sunday in Cafritz Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Mr Charuhas was a son of the late Charles T. and Helen (Gaston) Charuhas. His father, the first Greek resident of Cumberland, was the former owner of the Washington Hotel and Restaurant and the Liberty and Capitol theaters here. Mr. Charuhas was a graduate of LaSalle High School and had resided in Washington since his youth.
He was sales manager and vice president of the Lewis Company and was a member of the Ad Club of Washington, the Washington Executives Association, the Washington Board of Trade, Sales and Marketing Association, and of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
Survivors include his widow, Nellie (Frazier) Charuhas; a son, Robert L. Charuhas, College Park; two daughters, Mrs. Diane Gould, Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Helen Bellos, Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Frixie C. Charuhas, Cheverly, and Thomas C. Charuhas, Ashton, Md., and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a cousin, Christ Charuhas, city.
Services were conducted in St. Sophia Cathedral this week, with internment in Glenwood Cemetery, Washington.
