"Errol F. Snoke Dies Monday at 10:15 A.M.
Former President, Peoples Bank, is Board Chairman Since July 1.
In Hospital 29 Days.
Errol F. Snoke of 311 Walnut st., Shippensburg, chairman of the board of directors and past president of the Peoples National Bank, dies at 10:15 a.m. Monday in the Carlisle hospital. He had been hospitalized for 29 days.

Funeral arrangements, incomplete at press time, were in charge of the M. Garfield Barbour and Son funeral home.

A native of Mowersville, Mr. Snoke became associated with the Peoples Bank in 1906 as a bookkeeper, coming there directly from the Cumberland Valley State Normal school.

Serves 50 Years

He was honored on Apr. 30 by the local bank and on May 8 by the Pennsylvania State Bankers association for his 50 years of service in banking.

Mr. Snoke became assistant cashier in the Peoples bank in 1915, and was promoted to cashier in 1938. That same year he became director of the bank.

Following the death of Howard A. Ryder in 1950, Mr. Snoke was named president of the Peoples bank, a position he held until July 1 of this year when he retired as president. At that time he was named chairman of the board of directors.

Mr. Snoke served on the council of administration of the Cumberland-Perry County Bankers association and on the executive committee of the Pennsylvania Bankers association, group 5.

Heads Sewer Authority

He has served actively in the community during his life and has been prominent in masonic circles. Among the positions held recently was that of president of the Shippensburg Sewer authority.

Mr. Snoke was an elder in the Shippensburg Presbyterian church.

His wife, Mrs. Estella [Mae] Funk Snoke, also has been hospitalized for several weeks. Monday she was to come to the Showalter Convalescent home in Herwen Village, Shippensburg R.R. 3 from the Carlisle hospital.

The Snokes have two sons, Hubert of Brentwood, Long Island, N.Y. and Richard, now in Germany.

Mr. Snoke is also survived by several brothers and sisters and by three grandchildren.

Arrangements were awaiting the arrival of his son Hubert from Long Island."

Errol Fogelsonger Snoke was also a member of the Pennsylvania Society Sons of the American Revolution, tracing his ancestry back to his GGGrandfather, David Fogelsanger, a "soldier [Drummer] in the Patriot Army enlisting from Lancaster County Penna." He smoked a pipe and loved tinkering with his cars, usually a Studebaker. It was not unusual for him to wash and wax his car, and then take it out on a dusty road to see how fast he could get the car to go.
