He arrived in Vietnam 30 January 1971, where he was assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, USARV. Lt Jones cause of death was accidental while handling an explosive device.
Survived by his parents, Charles L and Jean King Jones and his brother, Stephen Jones. His mother remarried sometime after her husband died.
