Mr. Harvey C. Hensley, 92, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 05, 2013, at a local hospital.

Mr. Hensley was born May 14, 1921, in Corbin, Kentucky, to parents Francis Marion Hensley and Susan Kelly Hensley. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was injured in the Battle of the Bulge. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.

He received a civil engineering degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, graduating in 1950. He worked with the State Department before beginning a career with the Veterans Affairs, spanning approximately 30 years. Retiring from the VA Medical Center in Houston in 1981, he had also worked in Cave City, Kentucky, Johnson City, Tennessee, Montgomery, Alabama, Dallas, Texas, Haddonfield, New Jersey, and Middletown, Ohio.

Following retirement, he and his wife Lorraine moved to Nacogdoches. He was a member of Perritte Memorial Methodist Church, Good Sams RV Club, and the Lions Club.

His survivors include his wife of 71 years, Lorraine Elizabeth Hensley; sons, Charles R. Hensley and wife Pamela Jane of New Boston, Texas, John Harvey Hensley of Los Angeles, California, and Richard Edward Hensley and wife Pamela Louise of Latexo, Texas; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Tye and husband Kevin of Texarkana, Arkansas, Jason Hensley of Flagstaff, Arizona, Joshua Hensley of Los Angeles, Jody Elizabeth Sailor of Eden, Texas, Richard Dylan Hensley of Latexo, and Patrick Thompson and Sean Thompson, both of Austin; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Naomi, and Theresa Hensley, all of Flagstaff, Brylee Elizabeth Sailor of Eden, and Sean Thompson II of Austin; and a sister, Francine Garrett of Ohio.

Services are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Rev. Josh Hale officiating. Interment follows with military rites at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 5127 North Street in Nacogdoches.
