Amelia Stone Brister, 83, passed away December 2, 2013 at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born January 5, 1930 in Richland Springs, Texas. Amelia was the daughter of Dr. Ira O. Stone and Agnes Howarth Chadwick.
Millie grew up in San Saba, Texas. She graduated from San Saba High School in 1949. While in high school, Millie was a Candy Striper at San Saba Memorial Hospital. Millie married Roy David Brister on October 7, 1950. They were married 50 years. After leaving San Saba, she lived in Blum, Odem, and Orange Grove Texas. In 2001, Millie moved to Springdale, Arkansas where she was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Orange Grove. She sang in the choir, helped with VBS, and enjoyed the Women's Guild. In Arkansas, Millie attended Elmdale Baptist Church. There she was a member of Senior Adult Choir, took day trips with the Seasoned Saints and made many friends.
Millie is survived by her children Kathy Rokohl and husband Frank of Corpus Christi, Texas, Millie Jo Christopher and husband Tim of San Antonio, Texas, Roy David Brister Jr. and wife Kelly of Springdale, Arkansas, Ira Brister and wife Shirley of Turlock, California, Cliff and wife Danine of Sonora, Texas, Brad and wife Kristen of Katy, Texas, 19 grandchildren: Jennifer, J.B., Cody, Missy, Timothy, Sherry, Julie, Brandy, Eli, Patti, Cameron, Shane, Casie, Sarah, Mandy, Emmaline, Braden, Jackson, and 12 great-grandchildren Victoria, Olivia, Mary Jane, Tiago, Damien, Jocelyn, Abigail, Collin, Jack, Sabrina, Julia and Brady. Millie is preceded in death by her parents Dr. Ira O. Stone and Mrs. Agnes Howath Stone , husband Roy David Brister and grandson Robert Wayne Brister
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Blaylock Funeral Home, San Saba, Texas. Interment will follow at Colony Cemetery in San Saba, Texas immediately following service.
