A son of Grat Dean and Tempie Bell Stapleton Dean. He was married to Mabel "Sis" Gertrude Dean, his wife of 64 years, whom he married on July 21, 1948. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2012.
He is survived by five children, Carson Eugene Dean Sr. and wife Jean of Richmond, Yvonne Crews and husband Randy of Ashland, Johnny Dean and wife Janice of Louisa, Wayne Dean of Richmond and Tammy Guardi and husband Tom of Fluvanna; nine grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Marvin "John" Dean of Ohio, and Herbert Curtis Dean and wife Ann of Selma; a sister, Gracie Liptrap of Warm Springs; and a forever friend, Daniel Clough.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Callie Wilson, Myrtle Cauley, Beatrice Ryder and Ida Salyers; three brothers, Norvel "Doc" Dean, twin brothers, Troy "Dugan- Shorty" Dean and Roy Dean; and infant brother, Walter Dean. Published in The Recorder.
