"After the baby [Martha Julian SMITH, mother Martha] was born and the wife [Martha] of David Smith died, Martha's sister Armilda Catherine Jackson moved in to care for the baby. David Smith moved into the wood shed and nearly died from the cold that winter. When the snows allowed people to get about, the neighbors came with an intent. A shotgun wedding made things RIGHT on 22 Feb 1881. This made David the husband of the two Jackson sisters.
They divorced over another woman when their first born son Sylvester was in 3rd or 4th grade. They were divorced ca 1890.
Armilda remarried when her son Sylvester was 12 or 13 years old and that man was a bum. Her son Sylvester worked as a teenager to support his family."
