Joan M. Young, 87, Green Bay, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at a local nursing home. She was born January 22, 1923 to the late Joseph L. and Theresa M. (Jungwirth) Blechl in Peoria, Illinois. On May 22, 1948, she married Robert K. Young at St. Vincent Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Joan's primary focus in life was to excel as a wife, mother, homemaker and friend for her husband, family, friends and pen pals. She was employed by Wisconsin National Life Insurance Co. in Oshkosh and Aim West in Green Bay.
Joan was a charter member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, helped in the religious education classes at the church and served in the Stephen's Ministry prayer group.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Anne, Dallas, Texas; Peter and Judy, Green Bay; and Terrence and Peggy, Lorton, Virginia; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and John Monday, Plover, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Young, Sarah (Ben) Merigold, Jennifer Young, Casey Young, Katie (Lee) Nestlerode, Amy Young, Colin Young and Paul Monday; one great-grandchild, Leila Merigold; and one sister, Judy (Omer) VanderBloomen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene (Ensign, USN), Alvin and Herbert.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 South Oneida Street, where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John J. Becker officiating. Entombment will be at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd
