Lewis Dayton Reynolds was the son of John P. Reynolds & Martha Canterbury. Lewis had several siblings: Nancy, Daniel, Fannie, Julia, Mary & Vincent. Lewis grew up in the Poca Magisterial District and raised a family there as well. He worked as a blacksmith in/around 1900 and was known as a Minister.

According to several records, he married Sarah Elizabeth Walls 12/19/1889 in Kanawha County, WV, and had 9 children: Oma Jane Reynolds Wines, Ocie Pearl Reynolds Wilkinson, Lessie/Leisie Reynolds, Lovall Lewis Reynolds, Denver F. Reynolds, James S. Reynolds, Shelby Reynolds, Alpha Reynolds & John Paul Reynolds.

Lewis suffered from chronic myocarditis one year before his death at the age of 76.

Reynolds cemetery is also called Summers cemetery.
