James Brantley Cone, Jr. - SAVANNAH - James Brantley Cone, Jr., 78, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Peggy Spell Cone, died Saturday morning, December 6, 2008, at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, James Brantley Cone, Sr., and Eula Dillard Cone, and his brother, George C. Cone. Mr. Cone was born in Savannah in 1930. He was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime member and past president of the United Methodist Men. Mr. Cone retired as credit manager from Friedman and Company (Friedman Jewelers) after 39 years of service. He served in the National Guard Reserves.

Mr. Cone is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Rose Mary Cone, Randy and Kim Cone, and Steve and Ann Cone; grandchildren are Elizabeth Katz and her husband Ryan, Brooke McLean and her husband Charles, Chris Cone, Megan Cone, Shelby Cone, and Evan Cone, and two great- grandchildren, Victoria and Madison McLean.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at White Bluff United Methodist Church and will be conducted by The Reverend John A. Haney. Interment will be at Bonaventure Cemetery.
