GREENSBORO - Mrs. Bessie Barber, 77, departed her life on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday July, 10, at New Light Missionary Baptist Church at 2 p.m., where she was a member for more than 50 years.
Bessie was a very loving and compassionate woman, who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a blessing to all that knew her and many friends referred to her as "Mom Barber, because of her nurturing spirit, kind words, and guidance she gave to all. Her greatest joys were cooking, spending time with family and friends, and attending church.
She leaves to cherish her life six children, Carolyn Barber, Willie Barber, Gloria Williamson-Cobb, Tony Barber, Angela Gooding, and Leslie Jenkins, all of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Roseboro (Greensboro), Alice Morrell and Mattie Briscoe, both of Washington DC, and Lula Mae Wise of South Carolina.
