"GERARD J. EBERZ, 77, of Manahawkin, died Wednesday at the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Mr. Eberz was a control officer of packaging with the Continental Can Company of New York for 20 years before retiring in 1968. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assissi Roman Catholic Church in Brant Beach. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Francis and a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Right Rev. John R. Baldwin Assembly. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Eberz had lived in New York City and Long Beach Island for 20 years before moving to Manahawkin in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons, Gerard J. Jr. of Lafayette Hill, Pa., and James G. of Peekskill, N.Y.; two sisters, Rita Reilly of Cheltenham, Pa., and Mary Wooler of Philadelphia; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assissi Roman Catholic Church in Brant Beach, where friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia. Conttributions may be made to the St. Francis Center in Brant Beach. Arrangements are by the Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 12th Street and Boulevard, Ship Bottom."
