Richard Bitela, 46, of Amarillo died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home Martin Road Chapel. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.

Richard was born March 12, 1967, in Amarillo to Martin Bitela Jr. and Loretta Vigil. He attended Palo Duro High School. He was employed as a general contractor. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He married Christina Ortega on June 12, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Bitela Jr., in November 1980, and a brother, Tony Bitela, in February 2013.

Survivors include his wife, Christina of Amarillo; a daughter, Jessica Walker of California; a son, Eric Chavez of Washington; three stepchildren, Serena, Tiana and Jonathan Humphries, all of Amarillo; his mother, Loretta Vigil; three sisters, Stephanie Gutierrez, Loretta Salazar and Blanca Guzman, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Wilie Ray Higgins of Iuka, Mich., and Victor Duran of Amarillo; two grandchildren of California; and nieces and nephews of Amarillo.
