Thomas Darst Jenkins, age 87, or Tina, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Carroll House in Carrollton, MO. surrounded by his family.

Thomas was born on December 5, 1925 to Tormey and Katherine (Thurlo) Jenkins in Tina, MO. On September 30, 1951, Thomas married Miss Erma Lee Hundley at the Bogard Methodist 'Church in Bogard, MO. To this union, two sons were born Billy Mike "Bill" and Robert Thomas "Bob."

Thomas attended Tina High School and was a Charter Member of the United Church of Tina, MO, where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Thomas was a WWII Merchant Marine Veteran, where he served on the Benjamin Goodhue Liberty Ship. After returning home from the war, he became the local pilot who did crazy stunts under bridges and in the air to catch the eye of a black haired girl. Thomas also was a Civil Air Patrol Ground School Instructor. After retirement, he was a Tour Guide at the Tucson, Arizona Pima Air and Space Museum for 15 years.

He attended the Stevison Electrical and Refrigeration School in Kansas City, MO.

From 1950 until 1985 he was a co-owner of Donavon and Jenkins Construction Company and built water plants. Thomas was an avid elk, goose and pheasant hunter. He also enjoyed selling real estate. as co-owner of A&T Real Estate, Chillicothe, MO. For a number of years, he served as Stokes Mound Committeeman, and also helped with many elections at the polls.

In later years, Thomas and Erma Lee accepted the responsibility of legal guardianship for his cousin, Gene Mac Leipard. The winter travels to Arizona became the high light of Gene Mac's life and theirs also.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse. Erma Lee of sixty two years, a son Robert Thomas "Bobby" Jenkins , one brother in infancy, and his cousin, Gene Mac Leipard.

He is survived by son, Billy Michael Jenkins of the home; one brother, Mike Jenkins and wife Mary of Waverly, MO; two grandsons: Brian Jenkins and wife Amber of Overland Park, KS and Dr. Jason Jenkins of Mission, KS; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Jenkins and William Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North 65 Highway, Carrollton, MO, with the Reverend Bob Myers officiating.

Visitation was held from 1:00 until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial was in Coloma Cemetery, Coloma, MO, where Military Honors were provided by Pence-Loval-England Post #1773 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
