Alphonse was born May 22, 1915, in rural Roscoe, to Bernard and Elizabeth (Braegelman) Flint. He married Sally Klassen on Sept. 14, 1943, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. They farmed in the Roscoe area until 1972 when they retired and moved to Paynesville. They were also foster parents to two sons. After retirement he continued to help on the family farm in Roscoe. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Louis Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, and St. Joseph's Men's Society.
Alphonse enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins.
Survivors include his sons: Jerry (Doris) Flint of Allentown, Pa., Leon (Linda) Flint of Richmond, Kevin (Carla) Kroll of St. Stephen, and Kim Kroll of Little Falls; 14 grandchildren; and sisters Sr. Borno Flint, OSB of St. Joseph and Ceal Haehn of St. Cloud.
Preceding him in death were his wife Sally (1992); brothers and sisters: Anna Mackedanz, Ben Flint, Clara Pung, and Verena Mackedanz.
