DAVID B. WELKER One of Bradford Township`s oldest and most highly esteemed citizens was removed on Wednesday morning, November 14, at 2:00 o`clock in the death of David B. Welker at his home in that place.
Death occurred after an illness of only a few weeks and was a shock to his relatives and many friends.
David Welker was the son of William and Eliza Welker, well-known residents of Bradford Township, and was born in the community on March 9, 1851, being in his 84th year at the time of this death.
Early in life he followed the occupation of lumbering and rafting and later took up farming, becoming one of the best known farmers in Bradford Township.
Mr. Welker cut the timber and cleared the land on which his farm now stands. Fifty-six years ago he was united in marriage to Henrietta Hubler, who preceded her husband to the grave several years ago.
To that union 11 children were born, the following who survive: Mrs. Robert Harrier, Mrs. Mae Lumadue, Mrs. Walter Krebs, Mrs. Floyd Green, and Loren Welker.
Preceding their father to the grave were the following children: William, Ernest, Victor, Hollace, and Ray.
The deceased is also survived by 31 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. David Welker throughout his long and useful life was a devout Christian and always stood ready to help any of his neighbors and friends who were in sorrow or distress.
His passing will be keenly felt in the community in which he lived.
Funeral services were held in the Shiloh Church on Friday, November 16, Rev. House of Bigler and Rev. Rupt of Woodland in charge.
Interment in Shiloh Cemetery.
