Asheville - Shane Dale Anders, 43, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, August 9, 2013. Shane was born on July 16, 1970 in Buncombe County where he lived all his life. He was a member of Sunnyside Missionary Church for 37 years.

He graduated in 1988 from Erwin High School and received his Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He Received his Bachelors Degree in Sociology from UNCA.

He worked at the Asheville Mall as a Security Officer from 2000 - 2003 and from 2003 - 2013 at the Buncombe Regional Juvenile Detention Center until its closing on June 30 as a Youth Counselor. He was then transferred to the Women's Prison in Black Mountain as an Office Assistant. He loved his profession and felt honored that God had chosen him in helping young people put their lives back together. Shane touched many lives, including the students and fellow counselors.

He was the author of "Poems of Praise and Worship" and it was published in 2007 and all royalties went to support Christian Missions.

Shane is survived by his parents, David and Kathy Anders; brothers, Ken and twin, Jared Anders and his aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 12, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Neal Adams, John Cantrell and Joe Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
