Inez Evans Gibson, age 88, of Fayette, passed away at Hospice of West Alabama on November 28, 2013. Services will be 2 p.m. today, December 1, 2013 at Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Shepherd Baptist Church Cemetery with Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nollie E. & Della Smith Evans; her husband, Fred Jackson Gibson; her daughter, Lucy Agerton; her grandson, Derrick Jones; brothers, Grady, Chester P. "Check" and Leonard Evans; and sister, Lona Mae Evans Glaze.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Jones; her special son-in-law, Jimmy; her granddaughter, Kimberly Jones Evans (Steve); her great-grandchildren, Steven Shelby, Kelsie, Kaleb and Sawyer Evans, and Brandon Malone; her special nieces, Ruby Helton (Jimmy) and Teresa Greene (Kerry).

Inez was born July 30, 1925 to Nollie and Della Smith Evans. She was a member of North Highland Baptist Church of Fayette. After marrying Fred, they opened Fayette's only self-service laundry. They operated the combination laundry and grocery store until the 1960's when they opened "Gibson's Dairy Bar." Later Inez worked at Sterilon Industries. Inez was a second mother to three decades of children. In the 50's she was known as "Mamma Inez," in the 60's she was known as "E" or Inez, and in the 70's she became known as "Gandy."

Pallbearers will be Sammy Anders, Paul Gibson, Jeff Campbell, Grady Evans, Jason Gray, and Joey Helton.

Honorary pallbearers are neighbors in Circle Dr., communities of Newtonville and Brownville, FCHS Class of 1965, former employees of Sterilon, Inc., Dr. Martha Christian and the wonderful nurses at DCH-Fayette, and the best caregivers, Anita Sneed, Tammy Kizziah, and Alice Baines.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shepherd Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 10722 Hwy 171 S., Fayette, AL 35555.
