Minerva Julia Raines married Absalom Bobo Gant on 18 December 1867 at Rusk, Texas. The couple moved to Weatherford that same year. In 1868, A.B. Gant bought a salt mill in Young County. He sold his salt mill in 1871. Capt. Gant's family moved to Graham in 1880. During Mr. Gant's life in Parker County, the Indian battles were being fought in Young and adjoining counties. The couple shared the hardships of frontier life with other early settlers in the area.

Mrs. Julia Raines Gant died at her home on South Cherry Street following a brief illness of pneumonia. Graveside services were officiated by Dr. Gary Smith, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. She was laid to rest beside her husband, Capt. A.B. Gant who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gant was born under the flag of the Republic of Texas. In early life, she united with the Presbyterian Church and has been a consistent member all these years. When Mrs. Gant moved to Graham in 1880, she immediately united with the church here. She has lived a useful life and during her last years took great interest in visiting the sick and speaking encouraging words. She was active in body and mind.

Her son, Dr. C.B. Gant was in New Orleans taking a post-graduate course and did not reach home until after her death.

Survived by one son - Dr. C.B. Gant; three daughters - Mrs. C.A. Graves, Mrs. C.B. Logan, Mrs. Irene McLaren; several grandchildren.
