Writer and Teacher. Clayton Linville "Cork" Millner wrote fiction and nonfiction books, and plays and hundreds of articles. He was an actor, director, producer; he taught writing, wine appreciation, and on the staff of the Santa Barbara Writer's Conference for over 20 years. Born and raised in Newton, Kansas, he attended Kansas State University before joining the Naval Air Cadet program. He became a Lieutenant Commander and aircraft carrier pilot in the Navy for twenty-two years. He married Lynda Millner Seth during this time, and he and his family lived in Italy and Spain for ten years. Retiring from the military, he moved to Santa Barbara, received his Masters Degree in Drama from UCSB and launched his career in writing. Lynda and Cork two children, Kim Cavalle and Dane Millner. His books and plays included Fashion Passion: A Comedy (1977), One Second in Flight (1978), Vintage Valley: The Wineries of Santa Barbara County (1983), Write from the Start w Julian West (1992), Polo Wives (2002), The Jesus Gospel: The Greatest Story Never Told (2010), and The Mark Twain Game (2011). His most popular book was Hollywood Be Thy Name: The Warner Brothers Story, written with Cass Warner Sperling and Jack Warner (1993). Cork taught professional writing in a course called Creative Nonfiction for many years through the Santa Barbara City College Adult Education program. In 2001, Cork married to Jillian West Millner; she passed away two years later.
