Ina Ruth Burton went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin. She was a resident of Edinburgh.

She was born July 29, 1930, in Columbia, Ky., to the late Welby Lee Rooks and Myrtle (Rooks) Alley.

She married Paul Burton on May 17, 1947. He died Nov. 9, 1995.

She is survived by four children, Connie D. Burton of Franklin, Angela (Alan) Bowers of Huntington, Sheila (Brad) Cunningham of Franklin and Cynthia Pool of Greenwood; stepmother, Lenora Rooks of Louisville, Ky.; five siblings, Rollin L. Rooks, Gene (Polly) Rooks and Ida Pearl Bryant, all of Edinburgh, Avery (Bernice) Rooks of Columbia, Ky., and Charles Curtis (Ethel) Rooks of Ogilville; half siblings, Holland and Alvin Rooks, Bonnie Shelton, Dottie Misener and Judy Wilkins; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Vaughn Burton; and three siblings, Tyler Rooks, Welby L. Rooks Jr. and Cecil Burton.

She was a homemaker and took such pride in being there for her children. Each Sunday after church, she would cook a huge Sunday feast and have quality family time. She enjoyed working outside in her yard, sewing and cooking.

Ina had been a longstanding member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to services and weekly Bible study.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 905 S. Main St., with the Rev. Guy Hardin officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.

Arrangements are being handled by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
