Irene B. Adams, 79, of St. Paul, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Waldron Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born Aug. 2, 1934, to Ira Weintraut and Mary Roell Weintraut in Shelby County. She married Carl F. Adams in April 1953, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2010.
Survivors include sons, David C. (wife, Marcia) Adams of St. Paul, Gerry W. (wife, Franny) Adams of Waldron, Jason S. (wife, Pam) Adams of Florida; daughters, Tanna L. (husband, David) McDonald of Biloxi, Miss., and Marla S. (husband, Matt) Comstock of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Ann Adams of Flat Rock; siblings, Pauline Smith, Ruth (husband, Bill) Pollard, Ralph (wife, Sue) Weintraut, Raymond (wife, Sue) Weintraut, Judy Shafer and Diana (husband, Charlie) Robertson; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy (wife, Heather) Adams, Niccole Adams, Nathan Adams, David Lee (wife, Becky) McDonald II, Kevin (wife, Leslie) McDonald, Michael McDonald, Tyler (wife, Ashley) Comstock, Anthony Comstock, Alana Simpson, Clint Adams and Jason Shawn Adams Jr.; six stepgrandchildren, Jamie Marcum, Hannah Schooley, Katelyn Oliver, Faith Clapp, Joshua Clapp and Karina Clapp; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Ronnie Adams.
Mrs. Adams was a lifetime resident of the area. She was a 1952 graduate of Waldron High School, where she was the class valedictorian.
She was a homemaker and self-employed as a cake baker, as well as a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the St. Ann Alter Society.
Irene was a member of the Waldron Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road in Shelbyville, with Father Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Burial will be at Lewis Creek Cemetery in Shelby County.
