Joyce Ann Adams, 73, wife of John R. Adams of Ulster, Pa. died Tuesday morning, May 17, 2005 at The Manor in West Burlington Township, Pa. Born Oct. 25, 1931 in Sayre, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Lynn and Dorothy Sinsabaugh Yaple. Joyce spent her early life growing up in Sayre and was a graduate of Sayre High School; class of 1949. She married John R. Adams on Aug. 25, 1952 in the Sayre United Methodist Church. In earlier years, Joyce was employed by the Triangle Shoe Store and the Blue Swan, both in Sayre, and was later employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for 22 years until her retirement in 1995. Joyce was a dedicated and honorary member of the Ulster-Sheshequin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, an active member of the Ulster Recreation Center Board, and was a former member of the Ulster Chamber of Commerce. In early years she served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts in Ulster. Joyce's life revolved around her children and grandsons whom she loved dearly. Joyce loved children, enjoyed painting ceramics and crocheting. Joyce is survived by her husband of 52 years, John R. Adams, three children, John R. Adams Jr. of Ulster, Cathy A. Cook and her husband Ashley Cook of Ulster and William J. Adams of Towanda; two grandsons, Cory Cook and Jay Adams; and many good friends. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at the Bowen-Farr Funeral Home, 6 Gordon Farr St., Ulster, Pa. with the Rev. Sandy Brant, pastor of the Ulster United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Ulster Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to the Ulster-Sheshequin Recreation Center in care of Laura Blain, P.O. Box 64, Ulster, Pa. in Joyce Ann Adams' memory.
