James Donald H. Engel was born July 22, 1924 and passed away from this life on November 27, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His parents were William and Rena Engel, now deceased.

Jim lived his early years in Oklahoma City and graduated from Central high School. He served in the navy as a radar man 3rd class on the USS Sands APD 13 in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, Jim graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. He married Carmelita Jennings in 1951 and they had two children.

Jim worked for Carter Oil, Humble Oil and the Exxon Corporation for 34 years. His assignments took to Illinois, Kansas, Texas and Malaysia as well as Oklahoma where he and his wife made many lifelong friends who traveled and enjoyed adventures them. Jim retired to their home Oklahoma City in 1986. Jim was active in the Northwest Kiwanis Club and attended the 4 Stacker APD Navy Reunions. Jim's wife, Carm, passed away in 1998 after 46 years together.
Jim was the last of his brothers and sisters, Louise Gilbert, William Engel, Raymond Engel, Dortha Gordy and Mary Catherine Engel. Jim moved to Tulsa where he lived at Montereau since 2011.

Jim with his son, Russ, flew to Washington, D.C. on an Oklahoma Honor Flight for Veterans on September 18, 2013.
