Two Weyers Cave women driving to work early Saturday were killed when their car and an oncoming vehicle collided west of here.

Dead are Mrs. Nola Lee Wimer, 57, and Mrs. Nancy Layman Wrenn, 45. State Police said the women apparently were killed instantly in the 6:40 a.m. crash on Va, 257.

The other driver, Miss Janice Faye Wheeler of Rt, 2, Bridgewater, was listed in satisfactory condition at Rockingham Memorial Hospital late Sunday. State Police said Miss Wheeler sustained multiple facial injuries.

Trooper J. R, Failes said the crash occured on Va. 257 just west of the intersection with US 11.

Mrs. Wimer was driving west toward Bridgewater, where she and Mrs. Wrenn worked at Shen-Mar Food Products Corp., the trooper reported.

He said Miss Wheeler was driving east, also going to work, and that her car went out of control, in a curve. The vehicle hit the soft muddy shoulder to Miss Wheeler's right, came back onto the road and struck Mrs. Wimer's car, the trooper said.

The Wheeler vehicle halted facing west in the westbound lane, with the Wimer vehicle tilted over its right rear. Trooper Falles said charges had not been made Sunday pending more investigation.
