Ralph Scott Sr.
Ralph Frederick Scott Sr., 79, of Portsmouth, died at 2:37 a.m. today, July 23, 1990, in St. Anthony's Medical Center in Columbus.
A native of Portsmouth, he was born Oct. 10, 1910, a son of David and Anna Egbert Scott, both deceased.
A funeral director and embalmer, he was the president of Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home. Scott was a 1929 graduate of Portsmouth High School and a 1931 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Embalming. He was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and was honored at its 1989 convention for 57 years of service.
He also was a member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge and other Masonic bodies, and First Lutheran Church.
His first wife, Charlotte L. Asche Scott, whom he married Dec. 24, 1932, in Jackson, Ohio, preceded him in death Oct. 6, 1977. His second wife, Alice Johnson Miers Scott, 1979 in Portsmouth, survives.
Also surviving are two sons, H. David Scott and Ralph F. Scott II, both of Portsmouth; four daughters, Rosalind Horn, Edith Caudill and Betty Dials, all of West Portsmouth, and Virginia Stevenson of Sciotoville; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Scott of Portsmouth and Phyllis Spears of Monroe, Ga.
