Douglas Eugene Hoaglen was born July 27 1945 in Dos Rios and passed away January 16, 2010 at the Ukiah Valley Medical Center with his daughters at his side. Doug, as everyone knew him, graduated from Round Valley High School in 1963. He had been an active member of the FFA for four years and attended several regional meetings.

After graduation from high school he joined the US Navy, undergoing basic training at Great Lakes, Il. He came home on a short leave, returning to Great Lakes Training School for 3 months to train for a class "A" Engineman Certificate which he received. He came home for another short leave, then was assigned as an engineman to the USS Savage DER 386, a radar ship that patrolled the Viet Nam coast and rivers during the Viet Nam conflict.

After his discharge from the Navy in July 1969, he met and married Donna Marie Oresco. Four children were born to this union, Douglas Jr, Eugene, Cindy and Zerlinda.

Doug held several positions working at one of the sawmills in Willits for some time, after which he obtained a position on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad running heavy equipment for several years. Later in his life he worked as a heavy equipment operator for an Alderpoint contractor building roads and ponds.

Doug became ill and moved to Redwood Valley to be near the VA and American Indian Clinics. He resided with his mother and step father for nine years until he passed away.

Doug is survived by his wife, Donna Hoaglen, daughters Cindy and Zerlinda Hoaglen; mother Jean Crabtree, stepfather Francis Crabtree; eight grandchildren, uncle Claude Hoaglen; sisters Lucinda Davidson, Sandra Williamson, Sherry Brush, and Suzanne Feliz; brother Vern Hoaglen and many other relatives. Doug was preceded in death by his biological father, Eugene Hoaglen; son Eugene; brothers Marvin and Steve, and brother Ed Rains who was killed in Viet Nam.
