V. L. "Tom" Cates of Wickenburg died November 25, 1993, in Wickenburg. He was 95. Mr. Cates was born Aug. 6, 1898 in the Dalles, Oregon, and had lived in Arizona for 28 years, moving from Washington state. He was a mink rancher in Washington, a member of the Wickenburg Elks Lodge 2160 and the Wickenburg Country Club. Mr. Cates is survived by his wife of 28 years, Evelyn; stepson Mike Sanborn of Wickenburg; stepdaughter Pat Carroll of Sutton, Alaska; nephew Bill Cates of Bremerton, Washington; and niece Margaret Erickson of Coosbay, Oregon. Interment will be at the Wickenburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, 21 N. Frontier St., WIckenburg, AZ 85390.
