Velma was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Flatwoods, Tenn., the daughter of Daniel and Emma Ary. She was the youngest of eight children.
On May 26, 1939, she married Richard Hamm. Together they shared 52 years until his death on July 4, 1991.
Over the years, she had many different and interesting jobs, until her retirement in 1978. She was an active member of the Cortland Church of Christ. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed playing cards and sewing. She cherished any time she could spend with her family. Her many grandchildren were truly the light of her life.
Velma will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren.
Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
