Philip W. Abel, 84, of 335 Crossgate Blvd., Brandon, died Sunday, September 6 in the Crossgate Manor Nursing Home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 7, at 2 p.m. in the Nowell-Flippin Funeral Chapel with burial in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton.
Mr. Abel was a native of Holmes County. He owned and operated Abel’s Grocery on Hwy. 22 out from Canton some 30 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Canton.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Annie M. Able of Brandon; one daughter, Glenda Elouise Leach of Brandon; one brother, Vardaman Abel of Lexington; one sister, Zula Spell of Lexington; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
