Bert L. Ortega, 76, of Wickenburg, died Sept. 4 at his home in Phoenix. He was born in Glendale on Nov. 10, 1908 and was an Arizona resident his entire life.
Ortega was one of the first Hispanic and civic business leaders in Wickenburg. He was the owner and operator of the El Patio Barber Shop and Ortega Trailer Court. He was a member of Kellis Draper Post NO. 12 American Legion in Wickenburg. He was also a founding member of the Wickenburg Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Ortega; two sons, Felix Ortega, of Palmdale, Calif. and Daniel Ortega, of Wickenburg; two daughters, Irene Hershkowitz, of Phoenix and Maria Dehart of Glendale; one sister Alduvina Ortega, of Clovis, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Rosary was Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Mass was at St. Anthony's Church on Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. with Father Thomas E. Boyle officiating. Interment was in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Arrangements were made through the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
