Albert F. Meckes, 84, of 419 Walnut Drive, Northampton, died Tuesday in Sacred Heart Hospital. He was the husband of Rosa (Flamish) Meckes. They were married 59 years in November.
He was a farmer for Green Acres Farms, Nazareth, for 30 years until retiring in 1985.
Born in Trachsville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Pearly (Borger) Meckes.
He was a member, past council president and former choir singer of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bath.
Survivors: Wife; son, Ronald A. of Bath; daughter, Marilyn R., wife of James Angst of Coplay; brothers, Russell of Orefield and Llewelyn of Whitehall Township, and three grandchildren.

Albert was twin brother to James W Meckes.

Albert married Elsie Agnes George (daughter of Lewis W George Sr and Lillie Elizabeth Jones) 16 Nov 1912 in Pennsylvania.

Children of this marriage were:
1. Allen Franklin Meckes b. 1913
2. Arlene Lillie Meckes b. 1915
3. Minerva Edna Meckes b. 1919
4. Gladys Irene Meckes b. 1922
5. Kenneth Richard Meckes b. 1926

On 12 September 1918, Albert registered for the draft of World War I. At that
time he was living on First Street in Cementon, PA, and was employed by the
Whitehall Cement Co. in Cementon. He had blue eyes and black hair. The draft
registration shows he was born 9 February 1885 but other sources show he was
born 9 February 1886.

Albert worked at the Whitehall Cement Co., Cementon, PA, in the engineering
department for 42 years. In 1960 he was living at 118 Front St., Cementon, PA.
He lived in Cementon for almost half a century and was a member of the Lutheran
wing of the Trachsville Union Church.

Albert died of a heart attack at his home in Cementon and was buried in
Jerusalem Church cemetery. (Obit in "The Morning Call", Tuesday, 24 May 1960,
