William Nelson Bellew (aka: Wm. M. Bellew- William Nelson Ballew) son of John M. Bellew and Cincinnati Q. Dunkerson married 4 May 1841 Grundy Co., Missouri. Spelling is under John Belen to Cincinnati Dunknerson. His father originally from Alabama to Kentucky, then coming to Missouri. His father settled in Mercer county, MO., in 1837. Cincinnati Dunkerson formerly of Kentucky. John Bellew made his home in Mercer county for nearly thirty years. In 1864 he removed to Pottawatomie county, and four years afterwards to Cass county. Later along he removed to Bates county, then to Clay County in 1872. John Bellew died in spring of 1882. They had 14 children and William Nelson Bellew born in Mercer Co., MO. oldest of children.

In 1862 William Nelson Bellew enlisted in the Union service, Co. F, Twenty-seventh Missouri infantry, under Col. Thomas Kerley, of St. Louis, and Capt. Clark. When enlisted his name spelled Wm. N. Ballew later changed to Bellew. He served 14 months participating in siege of Vicksburg and number of engagements.

He married 1/wife Miss Mary Frances Smith, a daughter of Albert and Hester Ann Booten Smith, formerly of Kentucky and Mercer Co., MO., on 26 June 1860 Clay Co., MO. She died @ 1875, leaving two children, John Albert Bellew b. 1861 Clay Co., MO., and Charles Oscar Bellew b. Mar 1867 Iowa
He remarried to Miss Mary Allen Munson d/o William J. Munson (Jr.) and Patsy Mary Estes Munson of Liberty, Clay Co., MO., 1 Aug. 1875 Clay Co., MO. By 1885 they had 3 children: William T., Minnie M. and Fannie H. Bellew. Later had Myrtle A. Bellew b. 1887 Clay Co., MO., Mary Christine Bellew and Sie Bellew. Mrs. Mary Allen Munson Bellew is member of the Baptist
Church. Mr. Bellew was a farmer near Acme Springs, Clay Co. MO.
In 1880 believe he is listed in both Clay Co., Mo., Fishing River, and Johnson Co., Kansas.
Article said he came to Clay Co., MO. in 1885 which is an error since both his marriages 1860 and 1875 in Clay Co., MO.
