Mrs. Ira Oliver Dodge, aged 77 years, for nearly 54 years a resident of Goshen, died Tuesday evening at 6:30 at the home of Mrs. G. E. Whitehead, of 101 Dewey avenue. Her death was attributed to heat prostration. She was stricken Sunday.

Mrs. Dodge was born Aug. 9, 1856, in Cincinnati, O. She was a graduate of Oberlin college and for a number of years was an instructor in the public schools of Medina and other points in northern Ohio.

Before her marriage she was Jenny Lind Hunter, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hunter. She was married to Ira Oliver Dodge at Oberlin, O., Jan. 7, 1880.

For many years, Mrs. Dodge was prominent in church affairs at Goshen, where she was a member of the Women's Board of Missions of the Interior Congregational church, having become affiliated with that organization June 17, 1910. She was a life member of the American Missionary association and the Presbyterian Board of Missions of the Northwest.

Mrs. Dodge is survived by four children, Encel H. Dodge, news editor of the Warsaw Daily Times, Paul Hunter Dodge, Indianapolis, Faith Hunter Dodge and Mrs. Paul R. Willis of Chicago.

Funeral services will be held at the Herr undertaking parlors Thursday afternoon at 2:30 and interment will be in Violett cemetery, beside the grave of her husband, who died seven years ago.
