Ruth Anne (Wevick) Aasen, 92, of Sioux City died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Countryside Retirement Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 1111 Morningside Avenue, with the Rev. Greg Hanneman of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Mrs. Aasen was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Sioux City, the daughter of Henry and Helga (Pettersen) Wevick. She graduated from Central High School in 1932 and attended the Edwards Business Institute in Sioux City. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident.

She married Lloyd Aasen on July 2, 1938, in Sioux City. She was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary for Midwestern Paper Co. and retired in 1974.

She was a member of Glitne Sioux Viking Sons of Norway Lodge and the Scandinavian Societies. She was co-chair of the 1932 Central High School graduating class, working to support "Castle America." She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. She was the first woman trustee of the church.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Roy and Sue Aasen of Lompoc, Calif.; two grandchildren, Christopher and Holly Aasen; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herman and Roy Wevick.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Aasen, Dave Noble, Gary Schroeder, Jack Villim, Jim Villim and Steve Sabasda.
